Our Aims
Assalamu alykum warah matullahi wabarakatuhu,
Dear Parents, Brothers and Sisters in Islam,We are all aware of the reward for studying the Quran.
Islam places great importance on us as parents to teach our children the correct Deen, and to instill in them a love for the Quran and it's teachings. As parents and teachers we want the future generations to be introduced to the Book of Allah (SWT), in a kind and loving way, for them to learn and appreciate its wealth and beauty.
However, this is sadly not always the case. Recent articles in the Associated Press, and other media, have reported on how some Quran schools are were luring children into a life of begging. (1)
The plight of many children in Senegal is sadly that when they are sent to 'Quran schools' they study the Quran for only a couple of hours a day, but they are forced to go out to beg and earn money for their 'teachers' for the rest of the day.(2)
In addition they are kept in squalid living conditions, up to 40 children in a room and beaten at the whim of their `teachers'. If they try to escape, the consequences can be severe.
'Feesabilillah' was set up to raise awareness of the situation that these innocent Muslim children are being subjected to. They are being exploited in the name of Islam, to fill the pockets of their captors.
Feesabilillah has come together to DO something to change this situation.
Be a part of our effort to establish schools in these areas where the Quran can be taught with the same love and care that we would want our children to be taught with, and in the light of the Quran and sunnah of our noble Prophet (saw).
Help us turn this vision into a reality and give these children the chance they deserve and let this be a sadaqa jaariyah for ourselves, ameen
